I want to go on the BC pill cuz I get really heavy periods and they last longer than a week, I get really bad cramps, and I always get really sick to my stomach. Sometimes my stomach and cramps are so bad that I don't go to school. I am not sexually active, so its not for that reason. I just need something to help the symptoms of that time of the month, and I'm wondering if its true.. please, help!.. Also do you still ovulate?

going on the birth control pills will make your mentruals periods more regular. the cramps and abdominal discomfort are symptoms of dysmenorrhea. You can take pamprin, it works. also as you approach that period, avoid eating a lot of sour things. one of the causes of painful menses, could be from a retroverted uterus such as mine. i used to miss schools because ot the cramps. do a knee-chest position to tilt the cul-de-sac and it helps.

i don't ovulate anymore as both of my ovaries were taken out due to cysts forming. the curse we women have to go thru,eh? even aleve helps for the pain as well as the bloatiness.

a normal menstruation shouldn't last for more than 3-4 days @ one week, that's not normal.
you'll get weak. So go on the birthcontrol pills to make it more regular and less painful.

Yes you still ovulate. I started the pill for the exact same reason. My periods lasted for more than a week and only had a week and a half in between cycles. I started the pill and now I can predict when my period will start w/in 24 hours and it lasts 4 - 5 days. I never had cramps, so I can't help you with that.

I hope that helps. I take Yasmin by the way.

the birth control pill is sometimes prescribed for other than to prevent pregnancy. its to deal with acne and to regulate your period. slow it down and less cramps.
