We have the same problem I encountered about two months ago with the two fingers of my left hand. I suffered the same problem for about 1 month only to find out that my wrist watch is actually causing it. It could be that blood were not able to circulate around your arm. It could also be due to your sleeping position. Or you may be talking from your telephone for a very long time. One thing's for sure, it's not that serious since usually if your heart is causing it, you already have a heart attack by now. One symptom of a heart attack is the numbness of the left arm. Nevertheless, try consulting a doctor.

#1 don't panic

Were you leaning or laying on that arm?
It might just be temporary loss of circlulation.

It should go away in just a few minutes.

If not, Take some aspirin to act as blood thinner and call ask a nurse for advice it could be a stroke and the aspirin might help. Tylenol does not thin blood.

If you're for real and you haven't recently injured your arm, these could be symptoms of a TIA or a stroke and you should get medical attention immediately. Call 911. DO NOT drive yourself to the hospital.
