1. Would you open an umbrella indoors? - No! That's just wrong.

2. Do you knock on wood? - On occasion.

3. Would you walk under a ladder? - I have.....but only if i'm not paying attention.

4. How do you feel about a black cat crossing your path? - Ack! If i see it first i'll try to politely redirect its course. I'll scare it if i have to.....but that would risk making an enemy of a black cat, and that is a *very* dangerous policy indeed. (shudder)

5. Do you hold your breath while passing a cemetery? - No. Don't know that one.

6. Do you kiss your hand and touch the roof of your car when you drive through a yellow light? - Ummmm.....no, never heard of that one, either.

7. If you spill some salt, do you then sprinkle the shaker over your shoulder? - No. I've already wasted salt, why would i want to waste even more of it?

8. How do you feel about stepping on the cracks of sidewalks? - Been there, done that, i'm still here.

9. Do you cross your fingers for good luck? - That does *not* work! (I know, i've tried it.)

10. Do you believe that if you crack a mirror you'll have seven years of bad luck? - At *least* that long. It all depends on the size - and the age - of the mirror.

1) Yeh...I'm pretty sure I have a few times before.
2) Sometimes I knock on it, but only b/c one of my friends bugs me to when I say something that 'tests fate.'
3) I'd walk under a ladder too, but I don't know why I would, seems like it'd be just as easy to go around.
4) My brother has a black cat. It crosses my path all the time. I just gave it some worm medicine. Poor kitty.
5) Nope, but I do hold my breathe going over a bride. Don't know why that is either.
6) Um, no. Am I supposed to?
7) Ha ha no. Then someone would have to clean up the mess I made.
8) I never pay attention unless I'm just that bored, then I might step on them on purpose.
9) Sometimes, but I think it's about having the faith...I don't believe it's the action itself that does any good.
10) Haahaa....I've broken a lot of mirrors. Maybe that's my problem....I usually just cussed though and cleaned up the glass. Oops. I'm clumsy.

No, I don't have time for mumbo jumbo...but it's fun to talk about.

1. I believe that it is dangerous to have umbrellas open indoors cause it's close quarters and the pointy ends could easily hurt someone.

2. Used to more than I do lately. When I do, I usually knock my head as a joke about my mental status.

3. I do not think it wise to walk under a ladder. Not the safest place to be.

4. I would feel just the same whether it was ginger or white or tabby.

5. Not really, but sometimes I do feel a bit like I'm ready to move on to the living world.

6. Never heard of this one before but thanks, I must share with hubby who HATES going through yellow lights.

7. I used to do that as a joke, but realized that it just makes a mess!

8. I don't even notice it anymore, but then again, my mom is no longer alive. When we were kids, we used to hear that one rattled off, and I confess it gave me mixed feelings. Was much more superstitious as a kid.

9. Only to express to someone else the wish for luck occasionally.

10. No, but it would be quite a mess to clean up, wouldn't it?! How about 7 minutes of bad luck!? lol

1. No. My sister keeps doing it with her Lambert and Butler Umbrella she found on the street (if it's free...it's free) and putting it up purposely knowing full well it annoys me deeply.

2. Yeah - everytime - and if I can't quite reach any wood - I touch someone nearby who is willing to touch the wood for me in the hope that the 'luck' will pass over. Pretty strange really but I know loads of people that do that.

3. No. Probably not through fear of obtaining bad luck but because I'd be scared it would fall on my head!

4. If a black cat crosses my path - I always mention it to some one or make a point of stating it if some one is with me - possibly habit - but I see it as a sign of good luck if anything.

5. No - never held my breath. Never heard of that one actually! Don't curse me now - you're giving me more ideas of things to do ahh!

6. No - never heard of that one either - god - that sounds like more of a ritual than anything. Even if I believed that worked, I'd probably be too lazy to go through with it. We do this thing in our family though, where when we see a nice and expensive car, we touch it for good luck!

7. I hate salt and never sprinkle it on anything so I never have the oppurtunity to throw it over my shoulder. Besides, i couldn't be bothered getting the bloody hoover out everytime I decided I wanted salt on my fish n chips at tea time.

8. When i were in primary school, i had the strange, if not compulsive/obssesive behaviour of counting how many peices of concrete were seperated by the cracks in the pavements. If I didn't count them all then I'd worry - I had issues. Now I'm not bothered about counting the cracks in pavements, stepping on the cracks in pavements, I just try and avoid the mess left over by various neighbourhood animals.

9. I cross my fingers, my arms and sometimes my toes just to try and get every ounce of good luck possible by crossing whatever I can.

10. Well, i've broken two mirrors in the space of one night by standing on them and so far my life has been crap but it was crap before i cracked mirrors and no doubt it will be crap after the seven years is up so I wouldn't hold the breaking of mirrors responsible for my doom and gloom.

Interesting little survey. made me realise that I need to stop some of these superstitious beliefs as they sound rather strange and rather than truly believe in them, I think they are more or less habits from being little.

xx
