Firstly, I'm interested in what capacity you are trying to influence anyone.
Secondly, if you try to be a bully then that has the opposite effect. And thirdly, try to be your own best influence, that way you will be an inspiration to others.

You have to know their needs. Then you will be able to influence then. Just like Hitler in the WW2. Germans need econical stability and Hitler created job for people and get on the throne.

Be there for them. Help them out. Help them find something in them they didn't know was there and bring it out to where they can see it.
Your choice of words, your tone of voice, how much you pause when you're talking, lots of things like this can add power and influence to your speech. Your words are a great tool.

1. Be polite, friendly and interested in what they are interested in. Give them encouragement & credit for their achievements no matter how small.
2. Thank them, when they've gone out of their way for you. Go out of your way for them, when it's within your power to do so. Reciprocate.
3. Always, be kind with everyone — you never know what burden a 'cheerful person' may be bearing.

Look piercingly into people's eyes, wave a pendular object in front of their faces, tell them with a hypnotic hand movement,"Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, you are now under my control.....at the count of three, you'll strip right down to your undies! 1,2,3!"
