A lot of times women have problems finding decent color matches because they're opting for cheaper makeup. This isn't a perfect fix, but if you're willing and able, spending a little more money on a department store brand will usually produce better results for something like foundation.
Try Lancome. For foundation and other essential skin/color matching makeup they're one of the best.

oh the neverending quest to find the right foundation. I'm so familiar with it. The best you can do is go to counters such as Clinique, Estée Lauder, etc. and ask the make up artist to match your skin. Before you buy the product, ask them to give you a sample so that you can try it out at home since the lighting in stores is usually misleading. Also, sometimes the colour foundation will change during the day. Unfortunately, Clinique doesn't give out samples unless they are already pre-filled - which means that they might not have samples in your colour. Assuming that you're from the States or Canada I highly recommend that you go to a Prescriptives counter. They have this fabulous matching system. I bought a foundation from them a few years ago and it was totally perfect for me. Unfortunately, we don't have Prescriptives where I live.

Avon offers help with that...a representative can show you what colors would look best with your skin tones. You can also go to a make up counter in a large department store and they can do the same thing. I'm not sure if they charge for that service or not. Some of it just takes trying new colors...seeing what looks best with your skin tones, hair color, etc...Have fun!

Well your usually suppose to pick a color that IS your skin color. If you can't find that find one that is very close to your color. Maybe you could try something just a bit light or dark. Just a LITTLE bit darker than your skin tone will be better.

well you cant find the exact color of your skin but you can always take the level which is closet to your skin to make it look natural and pretty. when u want to buy foundation try it on your hand and merge it really well and see if it is close to your skin. maybelline has a lot of variety try that.

This is a bit more expensive but if you go to the Prescriptives counter at your local department store, they can custom mix your foundation for you and then they keep the formula on file for you. My girlfriend is Korean, American Indian and African American and she gets hers there. Looks beautiful.

All I know is, if you are light skinned, you should use very light colors. If you are darker, shade it in and spread it out.
