I posted earlier about my one fish staying on the bottom. Now I noticed that his wen looks like it's ready to flake off in some areas. Is this normal?

I'm pretty sure the wen refers to the fleshy growth on his head. --cap

What do you mean by his wen?
Sometimes because of irritation a slime is produced by fish and it can look like they are shedding skin, it may be down to a little too much ammonia in the water or the ph is too high or too low.
Buy a test kit and find out about the water quality in your bowl.

no. did you change the water recently? is it cold? if it's cold, it might be preparing to hibernated, but if his scales are flaking off, it might be a bacteria invasion, it might be ick. buy the medicine needed at your local pet store.
