Just an observation from my personal experiences with blacks. It seems as if blacks are more comfortable in 75-85 degree rooms while whites tend to find 68-75 more comfortable. Is there a genetic predisposition to prefering cooler or warmer climates ? Obviously, the black race came from Equatorial Africa, while whites came from temperate Europe, so maybe it is genetic.

I'm not racist, but I think there are some stereotypes which have some merit. I went to schools which were around 35% black (in Florida).African American students would put on a sweater when the school had its thermostat set at 72 degrees. I once had 2 black roommates who would turn the heater on when it was 65 degrees outside. Even blacks in cooler climates hate cold weather. I now live in Denver which is around 30% black and I have NEVER seen a black person in the mountains west of Denver(which are substantially colder).

Andrew: I guess I should clarify.I think of "room temperature" a being that temperature which the average person finds most comfortable. Perhaps the temperature one may set their house may vary depending on the time of year, weather/humidity and also one's budget, but generally, the temperature one finds themselves most comfortable.

Hmmmm..... this is a new concept I have never heard of before.

I've always been more likely to be uncomfortable in a 70 degree room than a 75 degree room.... which makes it kind of hard to sit in the air-conditioned office during the summertime. I thought maybe it was because I was born in August and learned at a very young age to be comfortable in the heat. In the early 50's when I was born, there were very few air-conditioned homes, and mine was not.

So, your theory may be a good one, if you leave the "race" out of it and simply state it in terms of the type of climate in which a person's ancestors, and they themselves, were raised.

This question is rather ridiculous, don't you think? Did you happen to notice any Pacific Islanders putting on sweaters, too? Californians? Floridians? Maybe the three black people you've seen happen not to like cold weather. I, for one, LOVE cold weather. Love snow and everything about winter. I sleep with a fan on in my bedroom, year round, because it feels so cozy when I'm under the covers. I HATE hot weather, and many of my friends (white or otherwise) think I'm crazy when I say the ideal temperature is around 65 degrees. Maybe folks don't like to live in the mountains in a colder region because it's more icy, treacherous and harder to buy supplies in case of a storm. Or maybe they're more social than you and would prefer to live closer to people. It's best to be careful about making blanket generalizations about ANY people.

We did not know that we were allowed to go west. After what they did to us in the south, we decided to stay where it was safe.

Seriously, it varies from person to person. You may be right and it may have some merit, but I'm not convinced. I know a lot of whites that love the heat, and a lot of blacks that love the cold.

Howeverm if you lok at how you posed your question, you really did answer it yourself. That medium number was 75*, so I guess hat would be room temperature.

"Room temperature" is a generalized term used to describe something around 70-80 degrees when a precise temperature is not needed. Its never had anything to do with race. Personal preferance for the temperature of a room is something different.

your observation may have some validity, however, i prefer the cooler temperatures (high 60s to high 70s), and i will put on a sweater if necessary. i can tolerate low 80s if its breezy and not humid, and i absolutely detest the summer type weather. my favorite seasons are fall, winter, and spring. i hate humidity, which is why i will never settle in the south.

I am not racist or ne thing either, but I support ur theory. White people are always cold. I went on a trip with some of my white friends, and I had 2 stay in a hotel room with them. OMG, I almost froze to death. I think it does have something to do with out genetic predisposition.

I just went to denver - and I didn't see any african americans as well - BUT the weather was nice out there. You might be right about the temperature thing though.

Room temperature is the same for all, because it is the temperature of the room, not the body. There is no signicant difference between the intrinsic temperatures of any races, the average for all humans is 98.6 f or 37 celsius.

I've been reading some of your questions and there all stupid and stereotyping. so let me set you right...
whites bleed red- blacks bleed red
blacks are humans- whites are human
black cry tears- whites cry tears...
only thing that's different is the skin color.
