A hymen is a smal layer of skin that is over the vagina.And no you don't just loose it while having sex but girls in sports or riding bikes can simply tear it.When girl have sex and bleed , that means that you poped a cherry.But just because the girl doesn't have acherry to pop doesn't mean that she is not a virgin because she very well is!

Many people are under the impression that the hymen is located within the vagina. It is not. It’s part of the vulva, the external genital organs. It’s located outside the vagina. The hymen is a layer of tissue, just like the tissue around the opening of your vagina that partially conceals the vaginal orifice

I have a story I heard. My friend was swimming once, and apparantly she ripped her hymen whilst doing some stretches in the pool! I didn't believe it at first, but she's a doctor and I have no reason to no believe her - so technically, you can still be a virgin less one intact hymen

In laymen's terms, it's a female's "cherry"...a small thin barrier inside of the vagina that is broken the first time she has sex.
