It's part of your immune system..
Chemical poisoning has been known to cause skin to be more sensitive as our skin's cells that produce antibodies are being weakend by these chemicals.
Read August issue of SHAPE megazine (Singapore) on doctors comments on rising numbers of people with sensitive skin due to beauty products.

I've never heard of it being related to your immune system. If you've had sensitive skin you're whole life it's probably hereditary.

I wish I knew what causes it too. But I do know that it can be genetic. That is if family members have it, you might also. I get my sensitive skin from my mother's side of the family.

Cold weather, hot weather,detergents and chemicals in soaps and shower gels, shampoos, conditioners,chemicals in mosturisers, cleansers, toners. Chemicals in washing powders,and fabric conditioners. Some treatments used in fabrics. Man made fibres. Nickel in older jewellery. Washing your skin too vigourously. Razor burns.
