i told my boyfriend i was leaving town just to not see him for a while he sent me an email if i reply and he goes through the trouble can he find out where i am sending the email from like city or state or town? country? please help!!

Yes, I could tell and he can too, all he has to do is go to this site and enter the IP address listed in the header of the email that you send and go to the site listed below and enter the IP address in the box that says IP Address to locate: and click Submit and it will show him the city and state that the email was sent from.

Yes, you can tell where an email is from by looking at its header. In there it says 'Received: from ...' (or somesuch), followed by an IP number. Your boyfriend could - given the necessary technical knowledge - find out where the IP number the mail originated from is simply by opening a command prompt window and entering 'tracert '.

Yes. He may or may not know how, but computers have individual addresses known as "IP" or internet protocol addresses.
I just wouldn't write back.
