In France girls could get married at 12 with their parents (or guardians) consent. Without it, 14 was the age.

That said, arranged marriages could be undertaken at any time but not consumated until the bride was of legal age.

12 and 13 was not uncommon.
Of course people died of old age by age 30, and a 40 year old person was considered old.
By the start of the 20th Century the average age at death was 42.

WHOO KATEE LOVE!!

Are you doing a history report or are you planning to jump in your time machine and boogy on back to 1879??

I saw a movie, (and they can be inaccurate) Wherein parents had their kids all lined up to marry at 14!!

Hope that helps.

PS If you go to 1879 and like it better than now, would you come back and get me? Please, please, please................I asked first
