Open My Network Places from the Start Menu, then click the Show Workgroup Computers link in the left-hand column.

Double-click the icon for the computer you want to access to see all shared items on that computer.

Make sure all machines in same workgroup name, default to Workgroup by the installer, everything network-related (Windows specific) is under Network Neighbourhood (XP may have some 2000 networking features but Neighbourhood is the default anyway).

While UNIXes treat both local and network the same, Windows differentiate those two, local C:\ D:\ ...etc network has the form of \\Machine-network-name\share-name\.
