For example men that call women names or comment on their appearance in a negative way have deep insecurities?. When a man is secure, he does not feel the need to do this. Why do you think some men are so insecure, is it penis envy, do they feel inadequate?

agree! think some men are so insecure they like to get their partners to feel inadequate as well, they think it will reduce the chance of them meeting someone else and actually having an equal relationship!

First of all, I don't think it's possible for men to have penis envy:) Second, they were probably raised in an environment where men treated women badly.

I agree with you, and not just about men. PEOPLE who are happy with themselves don't feel the need to insult others.
As for envy or feelings of inadequacy, some of them probably do feel that. But others just want to make themselves look good by comparison. I think many people who put down others want their friends to think they are witty or funny in their comments.
But sometimes I think the person in question invites comments, they look too horrid to overlook!
Example: I was around 17 and shopping with my dad. An overly LARGE woman was in front of us. She was wearing pure white leggings, and a black thong. Not only could we see her panties, the pants were stretched so tight that we could see all the cellulite in her @$$ and legs. My father just couldn't keep his mouth shut after we were out of hearing.
I think any sane person would have some thoughts on her.

I would agree that men & women who are secure & confident are less likely to feel the need to put others including their partners down. Think that it applies to both sexes….

I agree totally,it's to do with insecurity and these guys build themselves up by putting others down.They are also frightened that they will lose their women if the woman is too confident so they demeen them and erode the womans confidence.The sad thing is that usually these guys love the woman and ultimately lose them which sadly confirms to them that they were right ...

I'd agree somewhat to what you've stated but not sure of the reason for their insecurity. Anyone who puts another person down in seriousness is just a complete jerk.

I think there is alot of truth in that statement. Generally the more negative a person is about other people particularly when the complaint is without foundation, the lower their opinion of themselves. Its easier to see a problem in others than admit a inadequacy in themselves.

I do. But I think it's just good manners. I always try my hardest to say positive things to people. That's what makes the world a better place. I'm not including politicians and other criminals in this of course!

A man who exudes confidence makes others feel safe and secure in their presence. All ways look at how a man treats his mother and you will get a good indication on how he will treat you.
