I must admit I am a woman and would have absolutely no interest in watching women playing professional baseball. Baseball is such a great sport because all of the Legends that have came from playing the game. Lets just say for kicks that they start a woman's team, how would anyone compare them to other players, you obviously would not put them in the same category as Past, Present, or Future hall of famers....It would be just absurd! As far as the WNBA goes.......who cares, I don't think people really watch that, other than those little girls that might want to someday be in the WNBA.

I think it's long overdue and have been saying so for years. But sadly, I have to agree with the people who say that no one will sponser the product and that there will be little interest. It would be something I'd watch simply because I love sports, but those will be the only fans you'll see, and I'm not sure that there are enough people who watch sports and just enjoy a game regardless of who is playing. I once went to a Colorado Silver Bullets game. For those who don't know, they were the first professional team of women who played baseball against men. I had a blast. Don't worry, the day will come.

1) It would be tough to put together a quality league.

2) Nobody would bid for the broadcasting rights.

3) Nobody would sponsor the league.

4) Who in the world would attend their games?

The WNBA has an okay product, and even they have trouble attracting fans because the men's game is faster, more athletic, and more enjoyable to the great majority of fans. I can only imagine that the situation with baseball would be just as bad.

During the 1940's, there was a Women's professional baseball league. (There's even made a movie about it called "A League of Their Own.") I don't know why there isn't a professional league now, but I think one of the reasons why the WNBA is somewhat successful is because they play during the NBA's offseason. If women's baseball did that, they'd have to play in the winter, and weather-wise that's a horrible time for baseball in a lot of the country...

We only have a WNBA becuase the NBA is willing to lose money on it every year & willing to force TV to broadcast games. It is not kept alive the same way every other business venture is, by the public choosing to spend money on it. It's kept alive because the NBA thinks it's in their long term best interest.
And so, if MLB wanted a WMLB, we'd have one. But they don't.

The plain and simple reason is money, money, money. There is not a lot of support for women's sports. Even the WNBA. We have a team here in San Antonio, and I have only been to one game, and there wasn't a large crowd. Our hockey team gets a larger crowd than they do. For me it's not fun to be at a pro sports game and have a small crowd. As a sports player i would think it weighs heavy knowing you don't have the full support of your city. So unless there is a greater market for women's sports, there is not going to be a great push to create them.

Nobody watches the 50 games the WNBA plays, why would we be subject to watching 100 games of women's baseball... I'd rather watch flies f~ck!

I would love to see women play baseball rather than softball. It makes absolutely no sense to me that they don't. Baseball is far and away the better game.

Women play golf soccer hockey tennis basketball and even football, just like the guys, but, they have to play softball? Go figure..

Apparently men believe women aren't strong enough or something to play sports such as baseball, so they made softball with a bigger ball, thinking it would make it easier for them. How unfair. But so what? Most women can beat Derek Jeter's sorry-a.ss anyday.

Not many women play baseball. Most play softball. There is a professional softball league. Its called the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF).
