I don't think the transmission fluid has ever been changed and heard that could be the problem.

It could be that your transmission is failing. I have a 1998 Honda Civic and it did the same thing two years ago. We ended up having to replace the transmission.

Changing the fluid might help, but your problem is likely to be the syncronizer. If the ring gets worn out, you will have difficulty shifting up into 5th. If the shift fork is worn on the 5th side, it could cause this as well. Shift linkage is doubtfull because a shift rod is usually used for 2 gears...ie...1-2, 3-4, 5th & rev. and Honda's use a single rod internally for all gears. Best thing for you to do is have a transmission specialist check it for you.

I am not a mechanic, but I can tell you this if your a rough rider always shifting like crazy then eventually something goes wrong with the shifter. So good luck, O one more thing I have a 350z with a set of twin turbos from the Power Company maybe you and me can race sometimes thats if yours is up to par with mine or better.

Is possibly the shift linkage inside the transmission. Isn't much you can do about it...But maybe repalce the fluid in it with a synthetic, or even royal purple. Heard good things with them...even though they are pricey.

If it hangs up everytime you shift from forth to fifth you could have a bent shift fork.
