Agree, depending on the situation. I think people also use addiciton as an excuse instead of getting help.

First of all, some people have sex to reproduce, duh. That's the whole point of it
Second, everyone has some kind of escape from real life (which may or may not be miserable), whether it's sex, drugs, alcohol, hobbies, games, music, etc. Some "escapes" are just worse for you than others.
Besides, you can't know someones motivations until you have a walked a mile in their shoes... people can have a million reasons for doing whatever it is they do, I don't think everything is that black and white. I'm a former drug addict, I didn't do drugs just to escape. There was a million reasons why I was using, I don't think even I could tell you all of them.

It's not just drinking, drugs, and sex. Anything can become an addiction. Look at men who spend more hours on the computer of playing video games than with their family. I'm Straight Edge and that's all about taking all self destructive addictions out of your life. The three basic ones are sex, drugs, and drinking - but it can be anything. I do agree that it is an escape, and I often call it escapism.

I'll agree, drugs and drinking are definitely an escape. Though this is pretty common knowledege -- it isn't exactly what I'd call profound insight.
But if you think sex is just an escape, you've never been TRULY in love. And if that's the case, you may qualify as having a "miserable life" from other people's perspective.

DISAGREE! Not true at all. Just because some people choose to do some of those things, you can't say all of them are miserable losers trying to escape from reality. Some people just aren't responsible in the choices they make when it come to drugs, drinking or sex, but that doesn't make them miserable. That's great that there are people who don't do any of the above and still manage to find happiness in their lives.I say it's all comes down to responsibility. agree or disagree?

Totally agree...........They all help you escape reality for a moment. Sex always makes me feel better for the moment. Then after the drugs and alcohol wear off and after the sex is over you go back to reality and feel your misery. That is why people become addicts........to escape.

hahahaha, do you people never leave the house? Having fun is one of the most important things in life to be truly happy. Why go through life with 2 or 3 girls at the most when you could go out with alot more, going out to the clubz is fun, it's not to escape it's to enjoy life to the fullest.. I dont know whats wrong with you people..
You gotta have fun while you're young...

I don't agree that sex is an escape at all. Why is being close to someone considered an escpae?

not me, there are a gizillion people and everyone may or may not do things for different reasons you can't say just because some one does these things you think they are miserable because that is sterotyping and I don't think everyone that has a problem should be classified as having a miserable life!

totally agree. besides sex, theres no reason to drink until youre really drunk, and especially do drugs. some peoples lives just plain suck, and they think that their only escapes are the three things that you mentioned.
