try browsing by ip number instead of domain name..
(do a dig, host or nslookup on google or your favorite website, get the ip number and put that in your browser as http://a.b.c.d.e )

If that works, you have a DNS problem.. configure the DNS in your router, enable DNS forwarding, ensure your ISP has provided your router, otherwise try setting up a DNS server in your client manually.. try telnetting to port 80 of the remote domain name to make sure the firewall is ok, and traffic is routed out properly.

Possibly connection settings in the browser. Since you know you have network communication through ping, try pinging both IP addresses and names to make sure your DNS is resolving the address to domain names.

Also try typing in direct IP addresses in the browser to see if that resolves when the domain name does not.

But I'm betting you may have browser connections set up to look for a proxy or similar.

1. are you pinging systems within your home network or you are pinging out side network? (ie yahoo.com)

try power off your DSL/Cable Modem for 30 seconds and power back up see if the Modem is still married to your previous router.

2. what kind of IP Address are you getting?

typical 192.168.x.x? or 127.0.0.1? or 169.x.x.x providing more information can help resolve this problem quicker.
(windows 2000,XP go to Start, RUN and type in CMD. input ipconfig in your command window and see if you are getting IP, gatway. Make sure the gateway IP address is the same as your Roter address)

What did you ping? IPs internal to the router? I suspect if that is true problems are at router setup, ADSL runs PPPoE and needing login/password pair, and whole configuration doodads to get connected

Hmmm.... Try putting the IP address in the browser instead of the URL. You may have a problem with the DNS. That would tell you.

check your "network connections" in your browser. You usually have the option of manually setting up, automatic discovery, or using a direct connection to the internet.

Try automatic discovery.

You need to go into explorer settings and see if the default connection is still set to the dial up
