1st thing is don't get them threaded as when I've had mine done they get really painful and itchy for a few days afterwards. With waxing just apply a cooling cream, aloe vera gel, to the skin and it'll cool it and moisturiser the skin.

By the way I am a trained therapist and know its alright for you to use on your skin after waxing.

With the threading, the swelling should not be as bad. Make sure whoever is doing the procedure is using clean materials as well as has washed her hands immediately prior to working on you. Also, after the procedure, have the person put a thin layer of lotion over the areas and massage out the areas. This will reduce the swelling.

Don't have them waxed or threaded. Take a wash cloth and drench with water, then scrub over your eyebrows (and fix your eyeborws) That loosens the eyebrows so there is less pain Next take tweezers and quickly pluck away all of the hairs that you don't want.

If you are too afraid that you will mess up, ask your mom, aunt, cousin, or a friend- who knows what they are doing.

Noxzema (and probably other companies) make a very small electric shaver. The Noxzema one is designed to allow you to shape and style your eyebrows. I like this better because I also get red and swollen after waxing.

after you have had them waxed or threaded, put some ice cubes on them for a bit, that should reduce the swelling

Try putting ice on them to reduce the swelling. You can also dab Visine on them to reduce the redness. If you pop an ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory) before your appointment and for a couple days afterward this may help.

Apply ice to the area right away. This will reduce the swelling.

Don't get them waxed or threaded? I imagine it's because you're pulling out hairs. My chin gets irritated just pulling out one hair.
