Telepathy is the claimed ability of humans and other creatures to communicate information from one mind to another, without the use of extra tools such as speech or body language. Considered a form of extra-sensory perception or anomalous cognition, telepathy is often connected to various paranormal phenomena such as precognition, clairvoyance and empathy.

I think you may be refering to digital telepathy? in that case i would say it's using the princibles of how telepathy would work without any impossible brain functions, mystic powers, and metephysically linked minds, instead using technology to send or recieve information, concepts, images and video to link minds the hard way not instently, instead with a lag time for the stuff being sent to travel to who recieves it. One could look at the internet and every mind using it and it's near instent linking of minds to eachother and to information as a digital telepathic network.

Telepathy, from the Greek τηλε, tele, "distant", and πάθεια, patheia, "feeling", is the supposed ability to communicate information from one mind to another without the use of extra tools such as speech or body language, and is one form of extra-sensory perception or anomalous cognition. This information is generally reported as being "received" in the same form as that from the conventional senses.
