It's a cousin to the 4.0 that Jeep used up until recently. As it's still possible to find engines to keep a Gremlin on the road in a junkyard for less than $200 (look for Jeeps), I would say ask for somewhere between $250 and $500 for a running motor depending on the condition if you are selling.

Oh man, I used to have a 1971 Gremlin, I loved that car.
I wish I could find one but being broke doesn't lend itself to getting stuff like that.
That 232 was a solid engine, GM made I think, Ford design starter... hehe they used a lot of stuff from other manufactures.
If I had to guess and assuming good condition you might get 500 from a collector maybe more.
