I want to file papers but really don't need a lawyer as it is uncontested and have been seperated for a long while. Does anyone know of free legal help to help me with these papers?? I live in San Marcos (San Diego county). Thanks for the help.

Most court houses offer free assistance or can point you in a direction where legal help is offered for a minimum fee...swing by and find out where their family services dept is...regardless of what there special hours are they usually still have literature available that can give you enough info to get started...(this is available in L.A. county, Superior court houses.)

I know that up here in Northern CA there are "do it yourself" divorce centers that simplify the process and aren't enormously expensive. Shouldn't there also be those down where you are?

That's the option I'd check into...

Your best out would be to call the courthouse in your home town. Getting the wrong information from good intentions, may cause you more trouble than you'd expect.
