As soon as you get out of bed make it up and if you wear your pajamas more than once fold them and put them under your pillow. When you change clothing put them in the hamper right away, put a small one in your room close to the bed for easy access. Have a place on the closet floor for shoes in a nice line with a place for each pair or get one of those shoe bags that you hang in the closet. Have a special place for your schoolbooks and homework where you can grab them quickly. If you have toys put them in a box in the corner or on a shelf. Keep the clothes in your dresser folded and everything in a neat stack so that you can find them quickly and don’t have to take everything out to find something. Keep the floor vacuumed or swept on a weekly basis and dust the furniture then also. Keep pretty little boxes on the dresser top to put your makeup, jewelry, and odds and ends in. Don’t keep items you no longer use as it just makes too much untidiness. If you have room in the dresser you might want to have a junk drawer and if there is not enough room then a box on the closet shelf works nicely. Remember that it is always easier to keep it clean than to clean it when it is a wreck. Good luck.

This is what I did with my daughter. Every time that she would go into her room she would have to clean or pick something up or put it in it's place. Once you start you will find that it's already clean before the end of the day.

Make a habit of cleaning it every day, maybe at a certain time each day. Also, try to make cleaning easy...have storage boxes to throw things into; know where things belong. Also, you may want to go on a "de-cluttering" adventure...get rid of all the extra junk that is making your room difficult to clean.

Simple............
You get it out, you put it away!
You use it, you put it away!
You wear it, you put it in the wash!
You sleep in it, you make it!

Basically, tidy as you go- takes two seconds and isn't as daunting as having to spend hours tidying up every few days!

And to be honest, you will feel so much better living in a clean tidy space!
