An ultrasound will give you a pretty accurate gestational age of your baby. You will be given a due date according to your ultrasound if you are unsure of your LMP. The ultrasound tech will do measurements of the baby, placenta, etc. which will give a more accurate due date than your LMP

Early on, the doctor will do an ultrsound to determine your due date. They will do measurements to determine the age of the fetus. All babies are the same size prior to a certain number of weeks in the pregnancy. This is why most doctors will not change the due date later on if your baby seems large or small for gestational age. So to answer your question, yes, the ultrasound can be used to give you a more accurate due date.

Why would you want to tell the doctor a wrong LMP? That's just dumb. If you don't know at least you can give a time frame of when it was.

My LMP made my due date earlier than when I actually O'd, but since we were within a week of each other, we kept the LMP date. My u/s have all shown me to be on target anyway.

It usually doesnt matter if you give the Dr. you LMP. If they do an ultrasound, they will go by the development of the baby. So the Due Date the ultrasound gives you is usually the one they will use.

well actually my due date was nov.22 and when i went for my ultra sound it went up to the 15th and then back down to the 26 and they told me they were going to keep the 22 because the ultrasund did not show a big change in due dates and the 22 is in the middle of the 15th and the 26th

The ultrasound will give you the most accurate due date, everyone ovulates differently, the LMP is just "standard"

I think they use the ultrasound for the size of the baby as well as stomach measurments (I thinks its called fundal measurements?) at each appointment to estimate how far along you are so yes they will be able to tell up to a point

no because an ultra sound measures the baby's weight and length and they go by the rate of growth to get an estimated due date
