1. Drink lots of water
2. Eat smaller, more frequent meals
3. Don't combine a heavy protein and a heavy starch at the same meal
4. Eat fruit, but not after eating other foods--always eat fruit on an empty stomach. Fruit has a quick transit time through the stomach, so if it's held up by ANY other type of food (even chocolate or whipped cream) the fruit will ferment and/or putrefy the food and cause major bloating and gas.
Here's what I do when I'm bloated:
-Take a B-complex supplement. Aside from there many vital functions, B-vitamins also shed excess water from cells so that the cells themselves are less bloated and can function better. Believe me, when I take B-complex, or even my multi, I have to use the washroom much more than normal because I'm shedding all kinds of retained water!
Every time you take a B-complex supplement, your urine will eventually turn bright yellow, and noticeably so. This is normal. The thing to watch for is how soon it does this. If within the hour, you see bright urine, your body probably didn't need the vitamins. But if you see bright urine any time longer than that, then it's something you definitely needed. I notice that my B's get excreted after a long day at work, so I like knowing that they were supporting my nervous system during stress, and helping to metabolize my food into energy, while also making me less bloated :)
Other natural diuretics:
Celery, parsley, watermelon, cucumbers, watercress, artichokes, dandelion, asparagus, beets, brussel sprouts, and oats.
Tabitha.

Buy a gas de-bubbler. For quick relief of bloating, head to the nearest drugstore for an over-the-counter gas remedy such as Gas X or Phazyme, which contain simethicone. Or try Charcoal Plus, which contains activated charcoal. Both compounds break up gas bubbles fast.
Chew your food. The more slowly you eat, and the better your food is broken down, the less likely you are to suffer from gas caused by swallowing air. And the less likely you are to feel bloated.
Clue in to classic "bloat foods." Raw vegetables, cabbage, beans, bagels and pretzels (which are cooked in boiling, bubbly water) also are big gas--and by extension, bloat--producers.
Soak your limas and lentils. Beans are full of fiber and good for you, so if you want to keep eating limas, lentils or any other members of the bean crowd, soak them in water overnight. The water will drain out some of the gas. Then, throw out the water and cook the beans in fresh water.
Neutralize bean gas. Not cooking? Beano, available over the counter in liquid or tablet form, is a liquid enzyme that breaks down the indigestible sugars in beans. Just sprinkle several drops right on the beans or take two tablets before you eat.
Shun the sugarless. Sorbitol, a natural sugar used in sugarless gums and candies and many diet sodas, also is hard to digest and causes gas and bloating.
PMS? Skip the chocolate. You want, you crave, you must have chocolate before you menstruate. But do you want it so badly that you're willing to risk getting bloated?
Be especially sure to monitor symptoms when you eat chocolate, a major cause of that overfull feeling. Why chocolate? Because it contains sugar and dairy, both major sources of gas. And, as it happens, studies have shown that women crave chocolate more than men, especially just before menstruation. If you find that chocolate, or any other food, is a bloating culprit, stop eating it.
Lace up those walking shoes. If you have bloating from premenstrual syndrome, walking can really help dispel gas. Light exercise may help relieve that bloated, gassy feeling.

You might be drinking too much water. I have bulimia and tend to bloat a lot because of (obviously) the food I binge on and the massive amounts of water I drink. Perhaps you should go through a day and measure how much liquid you drink. Soda also makes you bloated and carbohydrates. So to decrease it would be eat a healthy diet, if you're not already. And like someone said, just wait for it to go away, I know it's uncomfortable but nothing really seems to help apart from healthy eating, believe me I've tried.

Drink more water.. sounds weird, but the more water you drink, the less water your cells need to store to keep you hydrated, hence it stops the bloating.
