Can you PROVE you were overcharged? Personally?Yes they could arrest you on petty theft. Of course if the cops know who you are, so does the Bar. I'm sure Bruno the *** Kicking Bouncer now knows where you live too.
You're stupid, you know that? You should have just paid it, then sued them and put a complaint against the Liquor Control board

That's why I pay for drinks one at a time. I don't trust bar help. I've been overcharged before. Get an itemized receipt. Dispute it at the bar before leaving or buy your drinks one at a time.
You may have no recourse with the tab you refused to pay. Do you need a misdemeanor on your police record?

Depending on the state, anything over a certain amount not paid for is stealing. My advice, pay the tab, tell everyone you know not to go to that bar b/c it over charges (hopefully you have some influence). And lastly, find somewhere else, where happy hour is every hour, like $2 you call its, and make up for the lost money there by drowning yourself with some Jack and Cokes.

Pay it......don't run a tab next time.
If you are drinking its easy for them to overcharge and I'm sure it happens a lot. They can make a lot extra charging you for drinks you didn't consume.
If you had a few too many how can you be certain how many you did have.

i know a guy who got arrested for that. he also had a limo come to the bar that day and didn't have money to pay for that either! the cops came & tasered him & arrested him! he got arrested a couple more times after that for bad checks and harassment, and ended up getting beaten to death in the county jail. true story, no lie. his name was joe kishel and he was (honest to god) running for mayor of north tonawanda, ny, my hometown. go to www.tonawandanews.com and do a search for his name, you'll see all kinds of weird stories! oh, btw...me, my bf, his son & my best friend ended up stealing the limo while dude was in the back of the cop car! he was pissed!!

In Georgia, it is Theft of Services. In most cases, the view is that if you have a problem with the amount, then you work it out in a civil process, but refusing to pay is theft.

Are you sure it was a cop?
Technically yes, you owe it. You stole something. If you have a problem with the bar, you need to work it out with them and the cops together.

Yes, you can be arrested for theft. Its better to pay and dispute the charge than to not pay at all.

i think that you should talk to someone about your bill. did you tell them while you were there that you wanted to talk to a manager or something concerning your bill. was it really that expensive. you can't drink for free at the bar you know if that was the case we'd all be at the bar
