the doc at the hospital should have told you what kind to use, just cuz you have free samples you only use what your doc put her on in the hospital, some babys have a allergies to milk so maybe a soybean based on is what she needs

Anything is possible, but I'd definitely head to the doctor. A baby that young can dehydrate soooo fast. Although the formula could be the problem, in this case, I don't think so. If she's been on it for 2 weeks and hasn't had a problem until now, I'd be more inclined to think it's a virus of some sort, or a reflux problem. Especially since you mentioned the frequent spitting up. Leave no stone unturned. GOOD LUCK! I hope your baby is ok.

First, DO NOT give cereal to a newborn until at least 6 months old. The free samples are garbage, thats why they are free. What is in formula? Nobody knows. Something in the formula is giving your child an allergic or intolerant reaction. change formulas until she can keep it down. Breast milk is the only true way to prevent constipation and other digestive problems. A baby's system is still very immature until a year old so dont force your child to eat food and if you dont nurse, change formulas until you find something that works. As her system matures, she will become more tolerant.

If your going to use formula, similac is not the one to go with. I didnt formula feed, but a lot of friends and family did and almost all of the ones who tried similac had the same problem you did, and a few even more serious problems. For some reason babies have a hard time digesting Similac. I would suggest talking to your pediatrician, because having not used any of them myself, I wouldnt know. Most of the people I know switched to Enfamil, but they got the constipation and gassiness also. Sorry to be of so little help, but I hope it gets better.

just went through this myself you can get some mylanta babys can have this in small doses and put gas drops in the bottle everytime and cut back the formula by an once everyfeeding you may have to feed here more often but she won;t spit up as much if you give the baby more time to digest the formula and then you might have to change the formula still to the one with the orange labe by similac has very low iron and the iron is what constipates them good luck it will get so much better as time goes on.

Call her pediatrician and ask their adv. They may want to see her just to make sure nothing else is wrong. It could be an infection or dihydration which may or may not have anything to do with the formula. Dont take the chance. It may be the formula that is causing diarrhea and vomiting. My son had gas really bad and spit up all the time and had to be put on Isomil. I dont suggest switching formula just cuz one is cheaper than the other or you get samples from one other the one you are using.. it can be hard on their digestive system.

The dirkdiggler mofo is full of bullshit. My daughter never had spit up issues or diarrhea and she's recently been put on formula. I tell you what, though, she never kept down an entire bottle of my breastmilk. She always puked up a good ounce of that, and she always had explosive stools while on breastmilk. Now, they are curdy and creamier and don't leak all out the diaper all the time.
You need to go to your doctor about this issue to find the right formula. Ask your ped about giving your baby an infants probiotic supplement too. I give one to my baby, and her poop smells like Orville Redenbacher's butter popcorn, and it's mustard colored and you can see the tiny curds in it, identical to breastfed baby's poops. She stays regular, no constipation or loosey goose. It helps. Ask about it.

Take the baby to her pediatrician so that they can determine what the problem is. Newborn poop is supposed to be loose, no thicker than peanut butter. If you feel that your baby has the runs, then that can be a serious problem for such a small baby and can quickly lead to dehydration. Call the office right now and talk to a nurse, they can advise you in when to make your appointment, and what other formulas to try.

Its normal for formula fed babies to get constipated. Give them about a tablespoon of white Karon Syrup once a day. It works for the constipation trust me. The formula.... what kind did the Dr. put her on? You can get Walmart or Target brand that is equivalent to the Infamil, alot cheaper. The Dr. put my daughter on Lacto free Infamil. Maybe you should try the Infamil for spitting up. Good luck

Switching formula can cause diarrhea and constipation. I am a firm believer in Carnation Goodstart. I have used it for both of my children and find that it does not cause them to have as much gas as Enfamil or Similac as I have tried them both.
