Hi Y'all! Ok, so whilst watching 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?' on saturday on BBC1, I realised that I dont know what Maria's last name was before she married Captain Von Trapp..... Now, whilst I appreciate that most people will think I am a saddo, its bugging me, and I would really like to know!

I don't think they ever said her name ... I've seen the film 11 times, and I never noticed this! (Who's the saddo now???!!!)

I'm not sure, it wil bug me too - discovered the Captains name is Georg!!

Her name was Maria Augusta Kutschera. Born Jan. 26th 1905.
Married Georg ( no E ) von Trapp Nov.26th 1927.
She did have a small part in the film 'The sound of music'
I know this for certain. I have her autograph. Signed on a postcard photograph of herself, and I'm sorry, it's not for sale.

They never mention her last name until she marries the Baron.
And Maria never calls Captain von Trapp by his first name - she either calls him Captain, Sir or darling.

I have looked at a few movie reviews and stuff on the net, and it seems, they didn't give her a last name in the movie. All other characters are named with first and last name, but with her it just says "Maria - Julie Andrews".

The real maria her real name was Maria Augusta Kutschera.
But in the movie her name was Maria Rainer.
