Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?

i think its becus you are able to think better when there is silence. so that is the reason why i turn it down. so that i can think:
where im at?
when to turn?
what street is up ahead?
what lane am i in?

Because in order to focus on finding an address, we need to NOT be singing along with the radio. For me, If the radio is even hearable, I cannot really do anything else, because music draws me in so much. Music has that quality, you get wrapped up in it, and it becomes difficult to concentrate on what is going on around you.

To focus your senses on what you are seeing. Especially, if the street signs and/or address are hard to local or recognize.
