WHAT DOES OBJECTIVE MEAN ON A RESUME?

It means: What is it you are looking to achieve if hired for a particular position? It's kind of a "what do want from us?" question. It's best to keep it down to 2 or 3 particular points when answering this. When I was sending out resumes I had 2 different resumes because of the positions I was interviewing for. Each resume listed my objectives differently, and helped me to broaden my possibilities more easily.

An objective is essentially your "wish list".

This is probably the easiest way for me and everyone else in HR to screen out people who send resumes to us. It's a selfish statement that usually has nothing to do with the position you are applying for; and if your objective doesn't fit our needs - guess where it goes?

May I suggest that you use a "Value Offered" statement instead of an objective?

Something like:

Value Offered:

A seasoned sales professional with over 5 years of successful experience and the documented ability to attract and retain new clients.

This sells you - an objective does not. It's also pretty near impossible to screen you out on the basis of that kind of information. Unless, of course you are applying for a position you have no qualifications for whatsoever...

The objective on a resume is just wanting you to put what is your key asset and what is your outlook period on a career or your outlook in the workforce. for example; "I will bring about good customer service and skills that I have acquired throughout my life and experiences to perform any job tasks that is required of me",
