long overdue bills from previous marriage...doctor, utility, judgement from credit union, payoffs and others. i want to try and buy a house and car within the next year or so. help!

sounds to me like you might juat want to file bankrup, it's not the end of the world but by the time you clean up your credit and pay everything you could have filed bankrup and not paid anything,

There is no magic pill. The so-called credit repair schemes are all scams.

The only way you can get your credit act together is to pay each and every bill on time. After a while your credit history will build back up. But in a year, not likely based on all the bad times you mention.

Go ahead and have good size down payment ready on a house.Pay up thru your nose on mortgage payment/interest.Wait 6 months to a year then refinace to get good interest rate.
Your credit should be better in about a year.

See a credit counselor. I did after my divorce to try to straighten things out. Their services are free. They set up a plan with your creditors to pay back your debt, often at a reduced amount.

Pay your outstanding bills, then, when you are debt free you can think about those other things. I wouldn't sell you a house or a car or lend you money for anything.

I did what GIRLFRIEND suggested. It worked very well and they were able to get the interest rates either reduced or deleted.
