Don't let them sleep on their stomach...back is the best position.

First and foremost, always put them to sleep on their back. Once they can roll over themselves and such, the risk of SIDS greatly decreases because they can move themselves around. Definately never cover baby with any loose blankets or have toys near them when they are sleeping. I've heard some doctors say not to have bumper pads on the crib for risk of suffocation. To help keep my daughter warmer while she slept and help her sleep better, I used a swaddler blanket. These are awesome! They make cheater swaddler blankets with velcro tabs so it's a wearable blanket that they can't wriggle out of or kick off and it won't come undone. Most babies find swaddling very soothing for at least the first two months. Good luck!

Put him/her to sleep on his/her back it is the best way. Also you can use a sleep positioner so they won't roll over it also might make him feel more secure. You can use a pacifier new research shows that the sucking can help reduce the risk of SIDS. Swaddling can help them feel more secure also. Don't use thick blankets try to keep the room at a comfortable temp. so you only have to use minimal blankets. Feel the back of his neck to make sure he is not too hot being to warm can also cause SIDS and don't smoke in your home and if you or someone else smokes make sure that they change their shirt and wash hands before holding baby this can also cause SIDS. SO in other words short of putting baby in bubble just use reasonable judgement and everything will be fine! God bless and good luck with your little one

Always put your baby on his/her back to fall asleep. Make sure he/she's warm enough, using a blanket sleeper in the winter months. In the summer, a onesie & socks is good with a light baby blanket for cover. Pull the blanket up just around the heart so if your baby moves or squirms, it won't end up over the face. Don't tuck it in but let it lay loosely on the baby.

The best way to put an infant to sleep is on their back. You also need to make sure that there are not any toys or blankets in the crib to prevent suffocation. Make sure that the baby's clothes are not to loose or to tight. Dress them warm enough for the temperature in your home and just put them on their back and you should be fine.

Place your baby on it's back and remove anything that could smuther his or her face, such as stuffed animals , padded bedding and pillows.
Lot's of people like to decorate a crib with lot's of fluffy items but they are actualy dangerous for the child.
You should also make sure that the crib is not too old and that it meets requirements of the most recent safety standards.

just swaddle them in a blanket, leaving plenty of open space for their neck and head and place them on their back. It's normal to worry like that. I got up every 15min. when I had my first baby to make sure he was breathing. Don't wear yourself out worrying that you are going to do something to cause sids to happen, though. Someone would have to be a complete idiot to put enough covers or pillows around a baby to suffocate them. (and there are idiots out there, but I doubt you are one of them)

Put them to sleep on their back, also keep most soft things that could smother them (blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, etc.) out of the crib. This isn't 100% effective, since doctors have yet to discover the root cause of SIDS, but these are good preventative mesures.

SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) has been drastically reduced by having the baby sleep on their BACK...

Be sure to remove ALL objects from their crib/bassinet, put them in comfortable jammies (a "onesie" if it's hot, a "sleeper" if it's cold), and lay them on their back.

I just recently had my fourth child, and I have had all of them sleep on their backs with no problems at all ...at least until they were older, then my son would only sleep on his belly(at about 8 months or so...he still sleeps this way at almost three years.) Sometimes putting a pillow under their legs keeps them from squirming too much and startling them selves awake (or one of those Boppy things works great too, makes them feel cuddled)But when they napped with me I let them sleep on my belly/chest on their tummy(sort of belly to belly) they all loved this and I got to cuddle with them all. Take advantage of the cuddles, because they get to the point where they want to crawl, walk etcetc way too soon.

Put them to sleep on their back. Do not put any loose blankets or sheets in with them...do not put any pillows, toys, or stuffed animals in either. Anything in the crib could suffocate them, so you want nothing in there but the baby and his/her clothes that are on his/her body. Also, never put your baby to bed on a regular bed (only one designed for a baby) and never put them to bed on a couch...these things are soft and the baby could suffocate in them.
