I have to go and sign papers for my husband's student loan, and the banks are open from 9:30 - 4 at best, and some from 10:00 - 4. Why is this??

I saw a question on here posed by someone who thought a 24 hour bank would be a good idea... I think that they should be open outside of normal business hours because customers in a bank are busy making money that goes into the bank while the bank is open. It's soooo frustrating!

If you have ever worked in a bank or know someone who does, please tell me why.

YES, I know that some banks are open later - and I wish one of them would be willing to lend my husband money for medical school, but they aren't - so please don't tell me that lots of banks are open later because that will make me much more frustrated than I am right now.

Most so called Banks, are just Branch Banks. They work the same hours as Corporate, and we all know the don't work past 4:00PM Call your banker and try to go in at your time or do it by mail.

24 hour bank would have to have some serious security in order for them to even consider it. most banks are open from those times in particular due to the fac that that is when most "normal" business hours are. that in conjunction with all the paperwork involved like with the deposits, withdrawls, this and that blah blah blah. I know that one friend who worked as a teller who often stay later than the closing time just to get all her paperwork in on time so that transactions that day would be posted as available for the next buisness day

Bank hours are usually reflective of when they are most needed. Most banks that close early don't have a core clientele to support longer hours. Many banks have very good on line banking services and weekend hours to accommodate customers.

Im guessing that they get most of their business during those hours so it would be more expensive to stay open longer. Also it could be a liability issue as well.

Employee hours are not the "open" hours.

All transactions must be balanced every day.

They work regular 40 hour weeks.
