i have had my nipples pierced 3 different times and i let them grow up each time. now i have these piercing holes (from the last time i had them done which was about 2 years ago) and the other holes from the first 2 times are gone. these holes that are left arent all the way through my skin, so its not like i can put anything back in them, but sometimes they get a little raised looking around the hole. id i squeeze them, this white stuff comes out, but it is not infection. what is it?

Signs of infection are redness, swelling, tenderness, feeling warm to the touch, and green or yellow pus.

Based on your description, this does not sound like an infection but just buildup of oil, lymph, and dead skin. It happens from time to time with fully healed piercings as well. If you are concerned, I would recommend having a professional piercer look at them before a doctor. Doctors tend to overprescribe.

It is Sebum. Seburn is produced by your sebaceous glands & ducts that are located throughout your skin in the skin(including the skin inside of piercings). These glands produce oils and fats and and give off seburn. One of Seburn's functions is to produce a film that helps prevent excessive evaporations and absorption of water and excess heat loss. It helps to water proof the skin. Seburn also helps in maintaining the normal acidity or PH of the skin and keeps the skin soft and pliant.

This is more common in areas of the body where there is a high concentration of Oil Glands like the forehead, face, neck, and chest. In fact it coats you entire body except for areas that you need more traction like the hands and feet. It's your bodies natural water proofing, insolation and lubricant. It tends to be even more common in slow healing piercings like the nipple or piercings that are being or have been stretched like large lobe piercings. The more skin the more ducts the more seburn. Since this is a natural product of healthy skin it poses little or no health risk.

Best wishes to you.

If it's not smelly, don't worry about it. It's just skin secretions. But why don't you get them repierced in the same holes?

I had breast cancer and had both boobs removed. I gotta tell you, I was almost more upset about losing the piercings than the boobs! If I ever get reconstruction, I'm going to insist that the new ones be pierced!

It's probably lymph. My closed nipple pierces do the same thing - I've asked my GYN about it, and she said it's normal. You might try putting vitamin E cream/oil or hydrocortisone on the raised areas to help with scarring.

Good luck!

I think its just the skin oils collecting, like the others said, if it doesn't smell its probably not an infection. To be on the safe side, you should get a doctors opinion though. Good luck!

Just the skin's normal healing process, same would happen with any healed piercing on any part of the body.

That IS an infection. The skin swelling around the hole should have given that away. Thats what that puss is draining out of there. Go see a dr and get put on antibiotics are else thats gonna spread and your gonna get really sick.

FYI
the lady that was in the guiness book of world records for the most piercings,,,i dont remember how many she actually had. But it was outragious! anyways, she got a simple infection in one of her piercings, and the infection ended up spreading to every piercing on her body and she died from infection. Pretty nasty huh!

AND TO THE IDIOT THAT POSTED THAT BULLSH.IT ABOVE ME...IT IS NOT MILK IN HER BOO.B U DUMBA.SS! WOMEN only GET MILK IN THEIR BREASTS WHEN THEY ARE PREGNANT. AND EVEN SO, THE MILK COMES TOWARDS THE END OF THE PREGNANCY. GOD

First of all,NEVER get your medical advice from a forum!! Of ANY kind! If you are questioning any fluids coming from any open wound on your body, seek medical treatment IMMDEDIATELY! You nor anyone else unless they are a doctor can tell you what is causing that especially when its sight unseen by us. Please get that checked soon before it becomes a much bigger problem than just drainage!

All nipples have that, it's cool. Forget about it. It's like the milk ducts just have a tiny tiny bit in there.
