I know that the bears defensive starters were P.O.'d about not playing in the last regular season game but that doesn't justify laying down in the playoffs

Chicago didn't lay down in the playoffs, they had to play a team that already played them once that season. Carolina knew what to expect already, and were prepared to use it against them...and that they did. Chicago put up a fight, especially considering it was the #2 and #3 defenses playing eachother. I have no idea what you're talking about....that was a very good game and either team could have won that, Carolina just had Steve Smith, and Chicago was dumb and kept leaving him in single cover, therefor Chicago deserved to lose the game, Seattle knew what to do...And the #2 Defense couldn't figure it out? Heh.

The panthers were just the better team. It is very very hard to cover Steve Smith 1 on 1, and Lovie Smith did not want to change the Bears scheme, for some reason they were more concerned with stopping foster than delhomme and smith. Charles Tillman just can't cover steve smith 1 on 1, i bet if the bears had it to do over again, they might consider dropping a safety back to cover over the top.

if by 'take a dive' you mean throw the game, then there's no way that happened. Brian Urlacher would never allow it. That guy is so intense he probably talks trash to his kids when he plays board games with them. These professional athletes are a lot more competitive than people give them credit for. Sure some are prima donnas and some are lazy and greedy, but the vast majority are WAY too competitive to ever purposely lose a game.

They pretty much choked. Why would they take a dive. That's highly unprofessional and they all would have been cut, fined, and imprisoned for doing so. They just did not play Steve Smith very smarly at all.
