If you like hiking, I'd recommend Discovery Park. It's kind of hard to find, but it's worth it.

Another option would be the Hiram Chittenden Locks (also known as the Ballard Locks). It's fun to watch the boats go through the locks, kick back and have a picnic, and if you are there at the right time of year...you can catch the salmon traveling through the fish ladder, which is pretty amazing.

Lastly, I'd recommend two great views of the city. One from Gasworks Park (overlooking Lake Union) and the other is Kerry Park, which sits about 1/2 way up Queen Anne hill.

Have a good time!

I don't know about not being well known or not, but Mt. Rainier was my favorite. It's a short drive out of Seattle...but worth every minute. It will probably be the next big volcano to do some serious damage in the U.S. so see it while you can. It's beautiful! You can go all the way up and hike different trails. Seattle is the best!

I suggest a walk/workout around Greenlake and then stop by a restaurant (many to choose from) for a bite to eat.

or a stroll on Shilshole Bay and bite to eat at Ray's Cafe. Ballard Locks are just down the street.

also try and make it to Woodinville to see the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery or the Pyramid Brewery and Restaurant across from Safeco Field to see the beverages of Washington.

Lake Tapps is lovely. Best experienced on a boat but great at the shore too. I live there. I think my 360 has some pics of it
