I dont think any one race is "responsible" for rock in roll- i truly think it is a culmination of a bunch of efforts from lots of people.

I wouldn't say that African Americans are largely responsible for Rock n' Roll, but rather those who study the subject say that Rock n' Roll started from combined inspiration by Jazz/ Rhythm and Blues (largely Black/ African American) and Country music.

That could be said since early RNR musicians were influenced by blues,eg Eric Clapton,Jimmy Page.And some of the hit songs of the 60swere actully remakes eg Twist and Shout-Beatle,The Lemon Song-Led Zepplin

well rock and roll is a mixture of country and jazz so yes I think that blacks have had a huge part in the history of rock and roll.
I think any music history teacher would agree...

Yes, I agree. Elvis, the beatles ect would not be here if not for black guys from the south inventing rock n roll.

Elvis Presley started it - there were many R&R bands before AM's joined the press. It was a natural extension of Jazz.

i woulndt say little ricahrd but yes, bands that were blues, and jazz largly inspired rock n' roll, but then again they didnt invent it or play it. but the did influence it
