Also, I only want the pill to help my period.. not for sex, because I am single and I am a virgin.

I know many girls who have gone on the pill for medical reasons, including myself.
Go for it. It could make a world of difference.
PS The pill does not cause breast cancer. That was the old generation of BC pills, with the super-high hormone dose.

YES!!! The Pill will definitely help. However, you need to be patient when you see your doctor. Since everyone's body is different, and there are different amounts of hormones in various brands of pills, the first one you try might not work to help your symptoms. The first brand of pill I was prescribed made my have a 3-week long period and break out like a 14 year old kid. After 3 months of this, my doctor conceded that it wasn't working, and now I am on a wonderful pill: my period comes every 4th Tuesday, sometime after noon and lasts only 3 days!

I started taking the pill for the same reason you did. My doctor recomended it. I found it helped a lot. I still got cramps, but only for the first day, and a couple of advil would help with those. Before I took the pill, I would be off school or work for 3 days! Talk to your doctor about it. Whatever you say to him/her is confidential, and they can find a solution that's good for you

I'm on the Nuva ring and I love it. My cycle lasts a few days tops and there are no cramps or anything. It's a lower dose of hormones too, so the side effects are much milder. You change it out every week, so you don't have to deal with taking a pill at the same time every day. BC would help your cycle out a lot in terms of length and discomfort. Talk to your dr. and see what she says.

Taking the pill will help all of these things. I went on the pill to regulate my cycle and to lighten up my periods, it was heaven sent. I also found that while on the pill my periods were shorter too, and my acne cleared up. I took ortho-trycylen, which was great. And yes, you will still ovulate.

Yes, the birth control pill can help you with the symptoms you are having. The birth control or oral contraceptive pill works by preventing ovulation. It can help you with cramps and bleeding, and has the added benefit of decreasing your risk of getting ovarian cancer.

That's the same reason I got on it. I would definitely recommend it. My cramps aren't as bad, I have it for fewer days and I'm not as grumpy. Yes, you still ovulate but there are some kinds that can keep you from ovulating if that's what you want.

There are other better medicines for that. The BC pill is known to cause breast cancer but if you don't ask your doctor for every option, they will usually prescribe the BC pill.

Yes birth control pills will help with all those problems. Some girls have to take those because of those reasons and not because they are sexually active.
