um... hi! toungue help!!!?

ok my friend sended me an e-mail about her toungue and she said she burned it pretty bad and that it hasnt healed yet its very small its like right at the tip of her toungue it looks like the taste budes are torn or like seperatedand that it hurts to eat.well she had canker sores before but i dont even know what those are? i was wondering is it just like herpes?
