Anything other than for earrings is a complete turn off for me. I really, really dislike them.
If you are ever in a fight, of course, then extra pain and suffering could be caused on a person with studs.

While it is still a bit trendy, piercings can look good in the right places on the right people. For example, a 220 pound woman should not get her navel pierced.

It's okay and can be pretty sexy, just don't get all crazy and put a bar through the bridge of your nose or something.
