I don`t think the troops will withdraw whether the conflict stops or not, Iraq is an ideal launch pad for any future conflict with Iran, who seem determined to carry out their nuclear programme, USA or Israel would never allow Iran to have atomic weapons,it`s just one big mess.

no! america didn't invade to go free iraqis from saddam and go back home again! i think with or without a "civil war" america's going to be in iraq for a long time, at least a decade. and this doesn't have anything to do with the ruling party. yeah maybe if the democrats win this round, they'll lower the number of troops, but a full pullout at the time being, considering the lebanon-isreal conflict, is both stupid and impossible. and actually, i think america's being in iraq is vital, because without them, the situation would've been 100 times worse than it is now

If the Democrats win in November yes, By the summer of 2008 to clear the way for the PResidential Election. Probably by the Winter of 2007.

If the Republicans KEEP congress. No. We'll stay until the summer of 2009 at the earliest, unless Frist wins and then who knows.

They will be there for 50 years. They have to keep an eye on that oil! Jimmy Carter predicted that the U.S. military would have a presence in Iraq for the next 40-50 years. The USA didn't invade that country, just to turn around and go home.

If the Iraqis really want their new government and infrastructure, they should be held accountable for running it now. We've been there long enough. I am ready to see our forces slowly brought home. We can't completely withdraw, but I think we should start. If a Democrat becomes President in 2008, it will happen, but that's two years off. It needs to start sooner. I don't see any way out of it. Hopefully, this type of war will never occur again.

Signed: Voted for Bush in two elections. See my point?

Yes, I think they will withdraw because I think civil strife will continue in the country for a long time. As long as we are available to provide security support if necessary, I think the country will be able to stay at its current level of security. I don't believe it is currently possible for Iraq's leadership to control security. I think we should continue training Iraqi forces, then gradually withdraw our troops.

yes.the president wants to do OK in the mid term so troops will come out;policy will switch to air strikes which will be a complete failure.it will become a full fledged civil war, resulting in another dictator controlling the country.the USA will degrade their image in the world further,as to what should be done;the USA.should pay compensation for their illegal invasion.this will not bring back to life those who have been killed because of Mr.G.Bush and his minions interference in what was a free country.

Sunni/Shiite violence will continuously proceed to be, everywhere we are there or no longer; Saddam stored the Shia below administration with the aid of killing all opposition with out mercy; it is how he stored tabs on them. Now that Saddam is room temperature, that administration is long previous; we bypass away and it is normally returned returned; upload to that the exterior impact of communities like Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Mahdi military, 1920 Brigades, etc... the whole difficulty will proceed to be a similar, if no longer get worst. i've got confidence that if the Iraqi government sees that we are going to bypass away, it relatively is going to motivate them to start taking extra aggressive action against the foreign places combatants that come into their us of a to kill and maim harmless human beings and for as quickly as, take over operations; then our forces can come residing house to the honour and admiration they definitely deserve.

Unfortunately I don't think it will matter much. At the rate things are going the whole country will become a waste land as it descends into complete anarchy. Sort of like what's happening in Somali, South Africa and most of the rest of Africa. Hope I'm wrong.

I hope so we don't want to lose any more lives, we must keep asking for our solders to come home,
it will end with a regime, with a new dictator at the top, this is the way they live through history.
