It all depends on your personal style. I have been to 3 different proms and wore 3 very different dresses. The first was slightly above the knees but had a clear flowy material that when around about mid-calf. The second was a huge cinderella ball gown, and the third was a form fitting dress that was florr lenght, had a slit, a train, and ruffles. All of these dresses worked. It doesn't really matter how big or fancy the dress is, but trust me, when you see the perfect prom dress for you, you'll know.

If it is a FORMAL affair, you DO NOT wear short above the kneeww. I dont care who you are or what everyone else is wearing. The proper attire for FORMAL is floor length. It doe not have to touch the floor necessarily, it shouldnt. I would look at Sue Wong (Neiman Marcus) she has the most amazinf formal gowns. DONT go for anything that looks promy either. Trust me on this. I wore plenty of formal gowns in the past 2 years.

That is entirely your decision. Both of the dresses I wore to my proms were long, one was full, the other was straight. I like long dresses and short ones tend to make my legs look fat. So when you go shopping for your dress, just try on whatever you like best and go from there. Whatever fits your body style best should be what you wear.

skirt profiles have tended toward the body, not away from it for the last few years. Silhouette huggers and a-line skirts are typical.
That being said, if you wanna wear the full bell and hoop, s'all you, and at least you won't look like everyone else there. For proms, longer skirts are more elegant and dignified..shorter skirts are more flirty.

At my prom there where alot of slim and sleek skirts/dresses... but I think the most prettiest dress was the full and puffy dress/skirt

Ideally it should be "ballroom length," in other words, to the floor, while still allowing you to dance and walk normally.
However, if the event is more about the dancing than the formality, etiquette would suggest that anything up to slightly below the knee would be acceptable.

Dont' make it too full. Look at what some of the stars are wearing today for the Red Carpet events. Take some of those ideas and figure out your own style. But don't worry, whatever you wear, make sure you are C.O.M.F.O.R.T.A.B.L.E. It makes all the difference.

should be below the knee (preferably floor length) where length of the skirt is concerned; as for the "fullness" of the skirt, it should be loose enough that She may require Her slave to be under the skirt, "serving" Her while She is seated, without the presence of Her slave being obvious.

it doesn't necessarily have to be full, just tea-length or longer....i would say if you have a full bottom, make sure the bodice is fitted...if you have a slimmer gown, try getting an empire-waisted one..its all about proportion!
