Maybe it's just 'cause I'm a guy, but I think they are.
My wife says they are totally different.

They are different! Since they range in hue, eggplant is a registerd different color.

They are the same color, they are just different shades of purple. When you think about it--you both mix red and blue to get both colors, you just use less red and more blue to create eggplant.

Eggplant is a variety of purple.
If you looked at an eggplant and asked yourself what color it was, you'd say purple, not eggplant.

The light color eggplant is the same as purple. Dark ones almost look black

I like purple, but not all purples. I don't like girly purple...
lavenderish purples. I like dark purple, almost black purple and to describe this color, I call it eggplant. I don't want to confuse people into thinking I like purple the color of unicorns. So, to take forever to answer your question, I would say generally, yes. But if you need to be specific, you might need to elaborate a little more.

lol... eggplant is a type of purple... my husband says men see in 16 colors like the old computers used to do... so I have learned not to ask him if he likes Gentle doe or orange because to him they are both orange... good luck....

purple is a combination of true red and true blue. Eggplant is a variant of purple.
