I am so sorry that you are going through this problem. My husband and I were TTC for 2 years as well. We went to a fertility specialist, and he referred us to get a semen annalysis done to determine if my husband was the 'problem' (geeze...that sounds so negative...not meant to)...or if *I* was the problem. With a semen annalysis they check for sperm count, strength of the little swimmers, vitality, and so on. This is a simple test done in a private room (most places let you be present to 'help' your hubby out). This will help determine who is causing this problem of not being able to conceive.
In most common cases, either teh man's sperm count is too low, or the woman isnt ovulating. A fertility doc will probably prescribe you Clomid to take which helps with ovulation and production of folicles (eggs) in you. If this doesnt help, they might bump you up to hormone injections. They may also suggest that they do a 'procedure' to help you achieve a pregnancy. There are many types of these. Insemination procedures.
To begin (if you dont have good insurance to cover these tests and what not), is to take your basal temp to determine when you ovulate (which will help you to know when exactly is your most fertile time and when to have sex). You can do a search for "How to measure your basal Tempature" and you will find out exactly what to do in detail. Basically you just take your temp with a thermometer BEFORE getting otu of bed...BEFORE moving around too much or eating or drinking anything. When this temp spikes, you are ovulating...meaning have sex... :)
If this doesnt help, you can also include the use of ovulation test strips. Pee on the piece of paper and it will tell you when you will be most fertile. If this doesnt work after a few months (sometimes it takes a few months of basal temp to determine your body's specific pattern), then I reccommend seeing a fertility specialist.
Here's my story of my issues:
We tried the basal temp thing...didnt work. I was ovulating, but no preggy. We went to a fertility specialist...had the semen annalysis done...determined it was the hubby's 'fault' (again...so neg sounding...sorry)...so we opted for a procedure to get preggy. The fertility doc gave us about a 5% chance of ever conceiving...procedure or not. So we went with it. He first put me on Clomid (a hormone pill) and through ultrasounds determined when my folicles were mature enough to be fertilized. I had to give myself an injection of HCG to force ovulation (controlled ovulation...so we woudl know exactly when to do the procedure), and in 36 hours I had to be in his office for the procedure. The procedure was called IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination). This involves my husband making a 'donation' into a sterile cup and taking that to the hospital. They then 'washed it' only leaving the best healthiest strongest sperm. They then inserted a tube (cathider) up through my cervix into my uterus and deposited the sperm right up by the fallopian tubes.
Blood test to check for positive pregnancy is given two weeks after the procedure is performed. If negative, then you start the treatment again.
After 4 months of that, 60% of couples would have conceived. We didnt. We moved to a more aggressive form of hormone treatment. (even though I wasnt eh problem, I was on hormone treatments to make more eggs for a better chance). I began giving daily injections of hormones. This scared me at first, but that needle is SO small I hardly felt anything. I just couldnt do it myself...my hubby had to do it for me. :)
After two months of that, we are FINALLY pregnant!
Through this entire time, I began getting frustrated, and thinking it woudl NEVER happen....but given such a SUPER low chance of ever havign children...it has happened. So ANYTHING is possible. Dont give up hoe and dont give up trying. No matter what you have to go through, hearing the doc say "Congrats...we have a positive pregnancy"...itis priceless.
I wish you two the best of luck! DONT GIVE UP!!!!

I have had many many years with infertility specialists and I think that this is the best place for you to start. I also was not ovulating enough and I started on clomid, then moved to other medications. But, many times, clomid is all that is needed. An infertility specialist will test hormones, blocked tubes, sperm count, etc. to see what the problem is-good luck! By the way, it took 2 1/2 years for my son and believe it or not, 11 years (we had obviously stopped trying) for our second, born 8 months ago. Don't waste any time, make that appointment.

First off I want to say I am sorry for what you must be feeling. It stinks to want a baby so badly and not be able to conceive on your own. I have been there. have you seen your doc yet? My husband and I tried for almost a year and then the doc tried clomid because we figured out I wasn't ovulating. Have you tried using the ovulation test kits? Two years is a long time. Most docs will go to the next step if you have been trying that long. They will make sure you are ovulating then they might test his spermies then they might go to invitro if everything else doesn't work. Good luck!

I was literally JUST about to order some Pre-seed (lubricant), when I found out I was pregnant. I had been reading some good stuff about it. It's avaliable at some local stores but you can find out online.
"Pre~Seed provides moisture without harming sperm. For use even while trying to conceive – a time of increased vaginal dryness when other products should be avoided due to their detrimental effects on sperm."
Again, I've never tried it but I read some review from women who say it made all the difference.

I went through so much trial and error, discovered so much information and figured out exactly what it would take to get pregnant and have the baby of my dreams. I read hundreds of clinical trial papers, I spent hours on end at the library researching reproduction and I studied countless articles, medical reports, web sites, books, transcripts, research papers and forum posts. I spent many hours (and dollars!) in consultation with different "fertility experts" and even they didn't tell me half of what I discovered! And then I found this amazing website http://aboutgettingpregnant.com . After following all the methods in the e-book, I cried tears of happiness at the sight of my positive pregnancy test, I released tears of anguish from all the months gone by and I cried tears of hope that I would hold my precious baby who I wanted to love and care for so much.

ok, this is a fluke, but my best friend tried for 3yrs. w/no luck. She finally got an Rx for some Chlomid and got it filled, but while she was waiting for her period to start taking it, she got pg!! How ironic! Maybe it's time for you to check on fertility drugs? The Rx was expensive, but my friend laughed and said " Wow, if I'd known all I had to do was spend that $ on those pills, and leave them laying on my dresser, I could've done that 2yrs. ago"! Good luck to you
