The sphincter of a rat may be much more evolved than a humans providing better cut-off because they do not have a chance to wipe their butts so the more efficient cut-off produces a pointier poo but at the same time keeps the butt tidy.

because it's leftover from the last turd that came out - the rats first turd was curved at one end and round but it's like a dispenser so the next always follows the other.

pretty much you have your answer. if you found something that appears like a rat turd (bigger than roach turds for sure!) then likely you have rats. take the necessary precautions and get a pest control person involved. though i hated the idea of rat poison, in my situation i need to destroy the problem, not convince them to just stay out of the house!
