The holes will not close up. My ears do the same thing, especially if I wear cheap earrings. Your going to have to invest in a good pair of earrings.
Earring sensitivity can be an allergic reaction to the nickel, glues or other materials used in making the earring.
A tip for you: Make sure you clean your earrings each time you wear them. Soak your earrings in alcohol, this will save you from swelling ear lobes.
My ears have been pierced over 20 years. I have the swelling if I wear cheap or gold earrings. Sometimes I don't wear earrings for months, the holes have not closed up yet. I have the same sensitivity to necklaces, rings and watches.

I had pierced ears for over 30 years.
Stopped wearing them for a few months and they closed up.
Crammed some new ones in there and by the end of the day my ears had ballooned and were dripping all sorts of nasty ooze..
Yanked them out and am thinking I will never be able to wear pierced earrings again.
Wanna buy some? They can be cleaned off easily.. just a little yellow crusty stuff on them

Allergic reactions to earrings are usually caused by cheap metal posts...
Try putting some hydrogen peroxide on both sides of the earring hole(s) with a cotton ball to kill any bacterial reaction...If the swelling remains, call your doctor (or a dermatologist) for suggestions.

My ears have done the same thing. Turns out I'm allergic to anything except real gold.
And yes, my holes did close up. Mine were pierced a lot longer than yours were. I had to endure the pain of reopening them myself. Now I wear tiny hoops in them at all times, even to bed.
It's the only way they stay open now. Holes that I have had for 15 years, will close if there isn't something in them all the time.
Hope I helped.

I would not think they would close up in the two or three days it will take for the swelling to go down just replace the earings with some that you know will not cause this.

your ears shouldn't be completely shut, but they are probably very sore. You need to work a pair of good posts through the holes and then treat them with peroxide or iodine just like you did when you first got them. Try wearing steel posts next time. If you have a pair of earrings that you aren't sure about, you can always paint the posts or eurowires with clear polish before you put them in your ears.

Owww.... when this has happened to me I followed this routine:
take out cheap earrings
clean ear lobe with alcohol on a cotton swab
using a better pair of earrings I coat the post in neosporin or some other type of antibiotic ointment.
put the earrings in your ears
you will notice that this actually does soothe your sore lobes.
Repeat this every 4 hours or less often if you notice the symptoms subsiding... sometimes it only took one or 2 applications to get my ears back to normal.

My ears used to do that all the time. What I did was just leave the earrings in and clean them a few times a day. Eventually, they stopped reacting in that way.

I have never had my ears totally close up even after an extremely long time without earrings. You may have to push a little harder tho next time you put them in. and make sure you wear hypoallergenic earrings.
