I'm looking for some ideas on what kind of money I should be making with my job. The first I'm curious about- I drafted and designed for a civil engineering place for two years. Second- design, drafting, and customer support in mechanical for a factory. If you can, please just give me a ballpark kinda close idea of what you think I sould be or should have been making. Thanks!!!

It depends on area and type of background. It sounds like you are relatively fresh to the industry. I would expect to start out in the $50s.

That would be a middle of the road type of ballpark. Some areas start in the mid $40s. Make sure you work on your PE regardless of where you end up. Get six sigma certified, lean manufacturing, and ISO 9000. That will open up your future.

Good luck.

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.

I am a civil engineer..... $55K for drafting, etc. Give it about 6-10 years and you'll be rolling in dough. My father was in drafting.. and doing VERY well now.
