I need to take my kids school shopping this weekend and it seems like Kohl's is pretty reasonable and all the stores in the malls are having sales, but I've never been to an outlet mall. How does it compare price-wise to sales at the regular mall?

It all depends on the store. Outlets are great for bargains but the clothes on sale at the outlets are the rejected one that the department stores did not want so there might be a faulty button or something that isnt quite right. You should definately take advatnage of the sales at the mall. they offer decent prices and good quality.

Depends on the store. Old Navy and Gap's stuff is cheaper, but it tends to be the stuff that is left over from clearance sales (i.e. nobody wanted cheap the first time around). Places like Rue 21 do have cheaper clothes, but they're crap and fall apart quickly. I'm not a fan of outlet malls myself, have never found that great of a deal.

Outlets are great for certain items. I went to the Playtex outlet in Las Vegas and got a $40 Wonderbra for $19. They had all the colours/styles as well.

It depends on the store. Some of the outlet stores are simply sales pricing while some have discontinued merchandise along with overstock.

GAP, Banana Republic and Tommy are not outlets, the same price that regular stores. Very disappointment.

It is hard to go to an outlet to look for a particular item. The best deals are odd items, and off season stuff.

Yes but sometimes only some of the clothes are discounted, so beware, the phony outlet store.

It really just depends on the stores. Some have great sales, but others just have slightly discounted items that they no longer sell in their normal stores.

the outlet stores in my area have about the same prices as anywhere else. and they only have last years' styles. not worth it.
but, hey, what would it hurt to look (without the kids around).
