I heard from dogs jumping when you get down, cats who want to play etc... But can snakes help lonely people? Are they happy when you are around? ... How is it to have a snake as a pet?

Thats a very debatable question. Personally, I have experienced great happiness and affection from my pet snakes. Not all of them, mind you, but several. They are different from a cat or dog, or even a pet rat or hamster. I find that you can get great emotional rewards from reptiles, but don't expect a wagging tail, lol.

I have had snakes for years but if you want affection, get a dog or cat.

I don't think they give you any affection, at least mine doesn't, he still a good pet though, I think I actually like him better than my cat. positives to having a snake are, they don't smell, they don't make any noise, they're relativly easy to care for if you know what you're doing, and you only have to feed them once a week or once every two weeks depending on what you feed them and how big they are.

I have had snakes for years and know they are loveable and affectionate. They have their own way of showing affection. My Ibicus will wrap around my wrist and hand when he is content and happy, Wink and Slit will wrap around my neck and Sam will wrap around my waist. If Sam is agitated he simple stretches out and tries to go back to his cage. Snakes do show affection, you just have to understand your snake and pay attention to him or her.

Snakes do not give affection by any means.

Snakes do not give affection but they can give tactile sensations. They will wrap them selves around your hands or arms to absorb the warmth from your body.

No snakes are never happy nor sad. Scared sure mad oh yes, but affection no way. It's just an emotion they don't have. They're naturally solitary cretures we just feed them. In other words, they tolerate us but like us? no.

Contrary to popular belief, they do. My grass snake Slither would come to me if he saw me and would wrap around my wrist or even just move around on me even if I was cold and no use for body heat.
