Getting 2nd router or a antenna were good advises; 2nd router need to be configured as an extender that mirrors WEP setting of the primary router, antenna works directly by sending stronger radio signal.

Or put in an access point which would extend the network over a larger area. But this would only work if you have control over the primary router - not if your free-loading.
