I don't know about the mario games, not as much of a fan of those, but you are correct about the price.
The thing that sells me on the Wii is the fact that Nintendo is opening its entire library for download to the Wii, everything from the original NES to the GameCube, as well as titles from Sega.
The only draw back is the horrible name...

I must disagree with you about how great the Wii is. First of all it is so cheap because it is a weak game system. The Wii has no real power when it comes to graphics and the game line-up is OK if you are 12 and under. The PS3 is raw power with outstanding graphics and an excellent game line-up. It cost Sony 1000.00 bucks to make one PS3, so paying 599.00 is not that bad. You can either be one of the people who plays it on the cheap or the one who is going to pony up the dough. The ones who can't get mom and dad to put up 600.00 buck will have to settle for the Wii. Although the PS3 will lose some because of the price, i think in the end the PS3 will be the clear winner in the battle of the next generation consoles.
